Accuity Volunteers Serve Chicagoland

Accuity in Action teams with area organizations and charities to give back to the community.

Skokie, IL – October 20, 2011 – In 2010, the employees of Accuity, the leading provider of payment routing data, AML screening data and software and professional services, headquartered in Skokie, IL, formed a volunteer program called Accuity in Action, with the goal of supporting and giving back to the community through various hands-on experiences.

Since the program’s inception, Accuity in Action has been involved in several projects. In late 2010, Accuity in Action collected and delivered over 1500 lbs of food for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The group also sent 30 Accuity volunteers to the Niles Food Pantry last year. The team spent the day cleaning floors, cabinets, freezers and refrigerators, organizing new food storage spaces, moving and unloading boxes, and more.

This year, Accuity in Action held a back-to-school drive collecting and delivering hundreds of school supplies to Christopher House, an organization providing help to 4,000 children on Chicago’s north and west sides. Accuity volunteers donated spiral notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, markers, glue sticks, crayons, paper, calculators, back packs and more – enough school supplies to help hundreds of kids enjoy a special first day of school. Christopher House thanked Accuity for the supplies and kindness. They really appreciated that the supplies were organized by item, saving them many sorting and distributing hours. Judith O’Callahan, a coordinator at Christopher House, extended her sincere thanks for helping Christopher House help kids thrive.

Also in the back-to-school spirit, Accuity collected and delivered children’s clothing to the Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association (ESCCA) which serves children in grades K-8. Accuity employees donated so much clothing that it took two SUVs and a large sedan to deliver everything to ESCCA. The organization’s co-president, Enid Shapiro, and school chair, Madeline Cusick, were both very appreciative and couldn't believe the amount of clothing that was collected.

Accuity in Action’s most recent initiative was a day spent volunteering at Hilda’s Place, a shelter located in Evanston, IL. In the morning, Accuity in Action volunteers organized and packed food, supplies and furniture for 19 families who recently transitioned out of the Shelter into their first homes. Each volunteer was given the name of a family and their “wish list”. Then, in the afternoon, the heavy lifting began.  Accuity in Action volunteers were tasked with moving the packages and furniture out of the Shelter’s basement and loading up their cars and vans. The team then drove the items to the families’ homes.

The sentiment of this day was best expressed in the thank you note Accuity in Action received from Hilda’s Place: “It was wonderful to meet Accuity! The positive response from our families has truly been incredible. Many of them have called to say how much they appreciate the deliveries and how kind it was of your group to put them together and deliver them. Thank you so much for choosing the project! Working with the volunteers was truly a pleasure. I would certainly call the day a great success!”

Accuity continues to look for additional opportunities to give back to the community through other charity and volunteer organizations through its Accuity in Action program.
